קיבוץ בחן הוקם ביום 10.10.1954, יום לפני ערב סוכות תשט"ו, על-ידי בוגרי תנועת הנוער החלוצית העצמאית "למרחב" מארגנטינה.

בחן, כמו כל הקיבוצים, נוסד לפי העיקרון ש"כל אחד נותן לפי יכולתו ומקבל לפי צרכיו".

בעשור הראשון של המאה ה-21 הוגדר קיבוץ בחן כ"קיבוץ מתחדש", תוצאה של תהליך שינויים שעברו קיבוצים רבים לדגם חברתי-כלכלי בו תקציב (הכנסות) החברים נקשר לתרומתם בעבודה והם רוכשים מכספם את סיפוק צורכיהם. אחוז מסוים של תקציבם האישי מופרש ל"ערבות הדדית" בין החברים, לספק צרכים מיוחדים.

בשנת 2012 מונה לקיבוץ בחן מפרק מפעיל. ככל שהליך הפירוק נמשך, מרוכזות בידיו של המפרק כל הסמכויות של רשויות האגודה השיתופית ולחברי הקיבוץ אין מעמד כלשהו, לרבות בניהול ובקבלת ההחלטות.

Kibbutz Bahan was founded on 10.10.1954, the day before the Succot holiday, by members of the "Lamerchav" Zionist pioneer youth movement from Argentina

Bahan, like all the kibbutzim, was based on the principle "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs

At the beginning of the 21^st century Kibbutz Bahan was redefined as a "renewed kibbutz", the result of a process of socio-economic changes which many kibbutzim underwent. The kibbutz members' personal income and expenditures became their own and are no longer shared. A certain percentage of their personal budget goes to a mutual responsibility fund for members' special needs

In 2012 an Activating Liquidator was appointed to run the kibbutz. The Liquidator has the authority to manage, decide on and execute every aspect of kibbutz activity. The kibbutz members have no status whatsoever in decision-making or management

Questions arise: what happens to a person when old ideas, upon which his or her self-image was based, change? What happens to that person when imagery change? What happens to him or her when the dream falls apart
